Twenty Years Later

The blog story included in this post is a reminder of my own personal journey and how a profound crisis can be the catalyst for profound change. Though two critical life-threatening emergencies had taken me out-of-body, I did not travel the tunnel or meet spirit in another realm during those events. Yet, my crisis did catalyze the changes described, over time.
I now trust completely in the sacred peace of non-physical life and know that my journey is to embody its peacefulness and joy, while alive in this lifetime.
This is the truth that all core spiritual teachings are meant to teach;
We are eternal beings and the state of unconditional love is our natural divine inheritance.

Memories of my Death and it’s effect on my Life

While sleeping I became aware that I was totally without pain. I realized I had never in my life been without some kind of physical discomfort. It was such an overpowering awareness. I couldn’t feel the migraine, or the bed beneath me, or the clothing on my body or even my head on the pillow.  It was such a relief.  At the same time I was overcome with peace, contentment, joy, happiness and love.  It all felt so incredibly wonderful. There is no way I can adequately explain to others how wonderful that felt, but I remember it clearly even though more than 20 years have passed since that day.

Pause & Reflect

Pause & Reflect

God grant me the serenity
to accept the people I cannot change,
the courage to change the one I can,
and the wisdom to know that person is me.”

~ unknown and very wise author

Feeling Like You’re In A Jam?

Have you been experiencing yourself in a holding pattern recently? If so, join the club;  we are receiving intervention.  This month is receiving an influx of considerable energies that are meant to burn up old patterns to assist positive change and flip the re-set button for humanity and you.

If you’re feeling  your own resistance to what is bubbling up in your psyche, your addictive behaviour, or your feelings…and you wish you had the energy to push it all aside and “get on with it already”, then take a pause. It’s time to allow yourself to be present to what is showing up. Take a breath, as you’re not going to be there forever. Just surrender to what’s in-front of you.

Given my own resistance patterns, I’m discovering that it is only surrender to “what is” that summons the grace to you and provides the relief you’re asking for.

Allow grace to come to you. Release the control that it must come to you in prescribed and specific ways.

Consider the possible awareness that self-judgment and the fears of having to change and experience more uncertainty is part of the resistance that keeps you stuck.

It’s O.K. to be uncertain. Change IS uncertainty and this easily leaves us feeling unsafe.  Change is also a new opportunity and  represents expanded potentials; more than you can imagine.  While uncertainty creates resistance and avoidance behaviors, your positive vision creates the energies to overcome them. Though a fearful voice may be whispering in your ear to maintain the status-quo, stay small and withdraw to stay “safe”; this will only drive you deeper into sadness or stuck-ness. Let me remind you, that what is real for ALL of us is that we never actually have it “all together”, so let us not allow it to be a reason to hold onto our limitations.

Letting go of perfectionism can be incredibly freeing. Admitting your “mess” and allowing yourself a huge breath of self-acceptance is likely exactly what is needed to dissolve resistance and carry you onward.

I have been feeling lately like I need divine intervention. Perhaps I’m having trouble facing my own truth, or believing it, so for the first time in too long, I’ve been seeking external support. It took effort to admit that I needed help; that I didn’t want to “go it alone” anymore. Though something is telling me that I must be able to look my life square in the face to summon my own power back, another wisdom is reminding me that where I need to keep my focus is not on the things most troubling me, but on the things that bring me most relief. Positive expectation combined with small daily acts of uplifting self-care of any kind can be enough to carry one forward.

These words, by Lauren Gorgo, supported me recently. Perhaps they’ll help you;

“It’s being shown to me that all these immense energies for physical manifestation are coming together like a perfect storm, bringing many exacting elements into play at once. If we’re present to the process, we can already see these energies swirling around us, moving things into place, even though we are sitting still…albeit on the edge of our seats wondering HOW these things will be brought to fruition.

As always, the HOW is none of our business. Even if we are teetering on the edge…and most of us are…we just need to make be-lieve for a moment longer that our dreams are real and allow these tremendously creative forces to guide us into (inspired) action while remembering that endings and beginnings are always simultaneous happenings.  The pressure is always greatest right before the breakthrough and I don’t think any of us can deny that the pressure is unmerciful. This is make-or-break time, and every single one of us is experiencing at least one area of our lives that simply cannot continue to exist as-is.

That said, and though I know I am preaching to the choir when I say this, but there is no use trying to DO anything that isn’t ready to be done, we can’t make anything happen here…we can only will (read: allow) our desires into being. We move when moved…period.  We know by now that all effort is ignorance and that if we move ourselves into (forced) action instead of allowing ourselves to be moved into (inspired) action, we risk the consequence of another round of karmic (mis)creation.  uh-uh.  No can do.”

Let the energies of May allow your perfect storm to lift you out of a past that no longer serves you, cleanse away your up-rooted turmoil, and EASE you through whatever resistance is still holding you back. Let trust carry you, with grace, to a new level of calm. Let yourself be supported…first by you…and then by all that surrounds you.

This starts with the simplicity of surrender. Take lots of deep breaths and allow each moment to guide you into the next. It may not always feel like an enjoyable ride, but no matter what it looks like from your vantage point; we’re all  in it together. Share the ride with a little comfort in knowing that you are not alone.

Re-defining, re-calibrating, renewing who you are, after-all, is a work in progress. Let this month be your artist’s palate and each day be a fresh approach of colour,  texture and lightness on the co-created canvas of your day. Most importantly, remember that you are a CREATOR, so enjoy your creativity!

No Fools this April

Today is Wednesday, the “hump-day” of our week and the 10th of the month; the numerical beginning of a new cycle. So, it is by no accident that my words today are meant to help you think about what small or large hurdle you still have lingering in your life which you want to overcome or move onward from.

This is a brief yet true story. An attractive young woman in my neighborhood, where I once lived, had set out to visit her boyfriend as she had many times before. That day, her mother did not notice the tension in her daughter’s voice and as her daughter waved goodbye, she casually nodded an approval and continued with her distracting task. This young woman never returned. The mystery of her loss haunted our neighborhood for months, even  years. Clearly, her mother’s life has never been the same.

Why am I sharing such a grim story? Well…hold on…

This story is a profound wake-up-call metaphor for the kind of life events we each experience throughout the journey of our individual lives. Small or large, intensely dramatic, or subtle yet pivotal, these are critical moments in time when the entire course of our individual or collective lives are forever shifted.

These pivotal events, which may occur entirely “out of the blue” may have their root cause so deeply hidden from conscious awareness that we may never realize how our own soul co-created it and put it in our path from which to learn and grow our greatest lessons. It is the experience of coming to terms with our past or current challenges that is a uniquely powerful force.  It has the power to lead us into a journey of self-discovery and unfold new awareness and truths.

If Wednesday is the hump-day of our week, then April is the hump-month of our year.  It is meant to get us over a hurdle. The post-Easter theme of resurrection is a reminder of this. The energies of April are coaxing us toward a breakthrough; to overcome past patterns, heal our ills and take flight from areas of unforgiveness or being stuck.  April beckons us to clarify our vision as we step into the spring season of new growth and embrace what we truly want to experience.

If you have something you need to release and be free of, now is the time. This month fully supports you.  If you have a vision, project or new goal that you want to begin and achieve, now is the time to take charge and begin it.  If you have been holding off doing something just for the fun of it, now is the time to plan it into your calendar.  Adding a little fun to your daily tasks and rituals makes this month’s hurdles easier to stride.  Catch the creative energy of April and let it uplift you.

A big push may be required to overcome your own resistance, and if this is so, the best way to move a mountain is by natural erosion.  By choosing one single achievable micro-step; one tiny gesture that is super simple, super-easy and entirely do-able, it becomes the entry-point for moving  your energy from intent into action.

Life is too short to be too serious about “achieving”. When you include the fun side of YOU into your daily activities, watch what happens. Drab becomes droll in a split-second when you follow a task with any kind of victory gesture. Acknowledge and reward yourself in the moment. Adding fun is the key.

The more consistently you make accomplishment fun, the easier it gets, and your “mountain” then erodes into a sandy, sunny beach. After-all, joyfulness, in its simplest expressions is the ultimate marker of a quality, happy life. It is the healthiest lubricant for the grind of daily life.

This month of April is your launch-month for your vision. Don’t waste another minute; climb onto the launch-pad!  It’s time to jump into the freedom of your NEW YOU. Let it start with a gesture of self-acknowledgement. You deserve it.

Whoever you think you are, You’re NOT; You’re so much more.

Think about it; most of who we think we are is the ego-based personality identity which is convinced that, “What I do; what I produce; what I have; how I compare to others, or not, is who I am.”

This reminds me of the stories we often hear and read about…the ones that inspire. The failure-turned-to-success stories; He was broke and now he’s a millionaire; She was at death’s door and now she teaches others how to heal their own dis-ease; He/She was abused, abandoned or rejected, stuck in a downward spiral and now inspires thousands with his/her inspirational service.

So at what point in each of these examples was the person a failure or success? At what point did the individual involved really know the truth of who they are? Against all odds, when they may have felt like a terrible failure in life and in the midst of their overwhelming or dis-empowering challenges, were they really a failure?  Of-course not!

Yet, remember, in the above examples, the answer is obvious when we’re shown the outcome. Sometimes the story is reversed; The millionaire turned broke…who finds his way back; The top athlete whose career is shattered by an injury and then re-defines and re-shapes his life. You get the picture. The moral of this story? Since we can’t fairly judge a person by where they are at in the journey of their life, then perhaps we should apply this to our own self-perceptions.

So let’s clarify; The Winner in you is always within you. It is you, though, who must be willing to reveal your Winner and your Success Story by choosing to believe, affirm and strengthen this truth with every-day conviction and choices.

Remember, whoever you think you are, you’re not. You are so much more!

No matter how grim things feel when you’re in the muck and disillusionment, you must remember that the feeling and realities around one’s assumptions about “failure” are often the experiences that precede major breakthroughs or begin the process of subtle day-to-day transformational shifts which lead toward significant life-course changes.

The motto to those facing tough times is “One day at a time.”  It is meant to focus us in present time and remove the shackles of our past, or fears about our future.

So, HA!  Time to kick off the judgment shoes, stop measuring, start acknowledging and step into the REAL you of limitless potential by being willing to see it BEFORE your life reveals your success story.

Where am I in this picture?  Let me tell you…I’m eating my words as I write them. I’m living my journey with a brave heart and the will of a mountain climber. I’m looking back at a train-wreck and forward towards a vision of on-going amazing improvements, changes, delights and successes.

I truly believe I’m lucky to be alive, yet luck had little to do with it. It was a tough-ass decision every day to overcome great odds with all the determination and compassion I could muster, and some days, it still is.

My story has had a lot to teach me. For most of my life I was stuck in the hell of not knowing anything about what I have just written. Then there was the time of thinking I was wise and clever, but that was before the “shift hit the fan”.  Life slapped me down every time I thought I had it figured out. I had to dig deep and it forced me to re-think every belief I held.

Yet, it is the collective experiences of my past, which could have left me stuck in the experience of struggle and failure, that have been my fodder for growth and have presented me with endless opportunity to find, create and affirm the Winner in me.

My story continues and so does everyone else’s. Which YOU or NOT YOU do you want to affirm and create?  It’s your choice.

Choose wisely every day. You’re worth it.

I’ll be there cheering you on…

How you see yourself

You already are ALL that you dream yourself to be.

What if there isn’t any such thing as “not good enough”?

What if you are already complete, perfect, healthy, whole and far more than good enough?

What if you and everything about your current experience does not need fixing? What if all you really need is to simply allow the reveal of the Great Divine You?

So, let’s take a pause and consider;  If YOU don’t believe this possibility, who will?

This is my starting point.  I have decided that it is my time to lay asunder all that has kept me ‘down and under’. I want to be my own best friend, cheerleader and awesome coach. I know that this is the bottom line to reaping the harvest of everything that has come before me; all the pain, guts and very little glory.

It’s my time and it’s your time too. It’s time to know all that you truly are. It is time to live your best life.

As I begin this fresh page on this new blog, I am choosing to overcome a monumental block I have had against writing, especially publicly. Though I was hiding behind the conviction that I had little or nothing to share, nor even wanted to, I realize that my fear is more likely about being exposed, judged and measured against “others”. Perhaps it is the feeling of inadequacy which has been my captor. Stepping out of one’s box is a challenging venture, so I have been taking micro-steps. This very moment, it is culminating as my first tentative steps into the world of blogging. Countless brave souls have gone before me. I’m finally jumping in.

In recent years I have been living an unconventional life by necessity and coming to terms with the fact that I have been a quiet version of an unconventional person. The good thing about this is that the years have forced me to re-define my self-worth, apart from conventional social standards, and connect with my intrinsic self-worth; the value of who I am well beyond the visible or measurable.

“Dare to be boldly self-accepting, celebrate your gifts and embrace the unique in You” is my new paradigm of choice.

I invite you to begin this journey with me; a journey of the small and mundane, the quirky and unusual, the seemingly insignificant, or the wise and profound.

Let’s begin…

Let’s meet in the place where you and I are already, all that we dare to dream. It is here that beginnings and futures are created.
